When is the next Dead or Alive game coming to home consoles? It has been a long time since a proper long form home console version of the game has been put out. Moreover, fighting games are having mini-resurgence so it would be odd for DoA 5 not to show up.
I’ll admit most of my interest in the game is that it was always and easy game to play much in the same way Tekken or Soul Calibur were easy games to play. I do not want a fighting game where I have to count frames or learn every finger twisting super move to get to the end. I want a fun fighter with pretty people jumping around throwing punches and kicking impossibly high.
Also, wouldn’t be nice to have a nice PS3/XB360, Wii U game that we could all share? I think Tecmo could do well with a well made Dead or Alive 5 game that was one all platforms.

This is beginning to change with some of the traditional fighters (such as BlazBlue), thanks to Arc System Works (ASW). ASW created a new control scheme for beginners (called beginner mode). It simplifies the controls to something similar to Soul Calibur's and makes it easy to execute combos. Many of the developers have been adapting the system into their fighting games. Currently both BlazBlue: Continuum Shift and Arcana Heart 3 (PSN) have the control scheme with more to follow suit.

To be honest I think the 3DS DoA game is a bit of a waste. They put in no small effort for several months rushing to make it, but to what great cause to do so is in question. It is not as if the 3DS has sold enough to support a niche game like a fighter yet. As a fighter, Dead or Alive is even more niche then other fighters like a Virtua or Street Fighter as well.
So the question becomes why make it for 3DS, why expend the effort now on that game so soon in the 3DS cycle? It makes very little sense when it is a PERFECT TIME for a full Dead or Alive game for PS3/XB360 to arrive. The only reason to do it is boobs, but that is a very wobbly thing (pardon the allusion) upon which to rest millions of dollars in money to create a game for a new system
