So you've found the Gamer Advisory Panel Underground. Let me be the first to welcome you and take a minute to first explain why this board was created, and second, to encourage GAP members to use this site as an easy way to get GAP members together or just hang out.
Why did I create this message board? That's a good question, I'm glad you asked. About a year ago I had been commenting and posting a lot about Battlefield 2: Modern Combat at GAP, but I felt like everything got buried so easily there. Also, not everyone was all that interested in what a small number of us, comparatively speaking, had going. So in order to consolidate all of the GAP game nights, and clans specifically, into an easy to access area, I started this board.
Things have kind of changed here at the Underground over the course of the past year though. As I said, it started out as a place to get clan games arranged, but now it's turned into a place where other GAP members can freely talk about gaming without feeling they need to talk about the PlayStation. There are many of us in GAP that own more than one console, as many gamers do, and want to be able to dicuss any games at any time. You can do that here.
This is in no way trying to compete with GAP, on the contrary, it has been made to compliment it. There was another GAP message board a few years ago called UGAP or underground GAP created by the godfather of GAP, kingruckus, that was semi-successful during the first GAP backlash of GAP 1.0. I haven't seen anyone create anything like it since, so now with GAP 2.0 being so fluid, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try it again.
I would encourage all of the GAP members that are actively playing GAP games online, to take advantage of what this board has to offer. I think this is a great way for us to talk freely about our GAP nights, clans, or even setting up off night games. I think it will take a very long time, if ever, for anything to get buried here, so everything should be fairly easy to find.
Another reason that I think this would be helpful to the GAP community, is that it would make a great place, for those of us that don't use AIM or MSN, to get in touch and get a game set up without writing a journal entry at GAP in order to do it.
As far as Clans go, the clan leaders will have mod powers here so that they will be able to make announcements in the locked boards and so they can also send out mass PMs or e-mails to their clan members. This should make it very easy for them to notify the entire clan of upcoming battles or changes to game nights if needed.
If you are a GAP member, please register. In order to create a new topic in the specific boards, or comment, you must be registered. The moderator has the ablility to remove anyone that is posting in their specific boards that does not belong, although I don't think this will really be a problem. You also may notice the "Super Secret GAP Mod Lair", this is a private forum for GAP moderators to hash things out. Unless you are a moderator at the official Sony Gamer Advisory Panel, you won't get access. (Unless you beg and plead, then I may think about it. )
So that's why I did this and that's also why I think it was a good idea. I think that it's worked out pretty good so far and is a great asset to the GAP community. So what are you doing still reading this, get out there and post.
