Okay, here's the deal; I never really got into Gears before, though I played through the campaign on Casual. But GoW2 looks amazing, and I want to get better at it before it drops. Anyone here interested in playing through the co-op campaign over the next few weeks? I wouldn't mind some more than the pathetic 100/1250 GP I have for the game, too, so I'd even be willing to do it twice to mutually gain the play-as-Dom achievements.
I can generally play most weekdays between 3pm-5pm and 10pm-12am PST, barring advance plans; weekends we could figure out.

Let me pick up a copy & I'll play through with you sometime soon here. I still need to play it. Just keep in mind I suck horribly at shooters.

Sounds good! I'm no great shakes at shooters either, music games are more my metier - we won't be trying it on Insane.

I can HELP you beat the game in about 6-9 hours on Insane with all of the COG tags. And I even promise to let you play as Dom the whole time ;D. I helped CONFUSED and Woods and a few others... its fun playing co-op. Drop me a line on the 360 with those weekend times. I'm good for the afternoon definately but being an east coaster those midnight times might be a bit harder to withstand.

Dude, that would be awesome! Never thought I'd get a shot at Insane achievements, I'm on Act 5 on Hardcore and find it enough of a struggle. Plus then I can play though with Yuki with her as Dom so she gets the achievements. I'm pretty busy the next few days but I'll definitely get in touch with you on 360 to work out some times.

We thought it was the GRAW 2 demo the WHOOOOLE time. I've done it too though... happens to the best of us I miss playing on XBL in GAP games... everyone seems to have died, or maybe they were abducted by aliens?

Surprisingly enough the game becomes an instant cake walk when you play co-op. The only time the game is hard is when the path splits and you have to, what would dagger say, solo it. ;D Even the big spider whose name befalls me that you have to "persuade" back wards over the bridge can VERY easily be destroyed in about 35-45 seconds... no joke. I just have to remember how I did it with Confused. lol

The corpser? I found him surprisingly easy on Hardcore... wait for him to rear up, run in, shottie to the chest, shottie to the mouth, he backs up. Rinse & repeat 'til he's back far enough, then a couple shots to the clamps and he goes down. Took me a minute at most. The biggest hassle is dealing with your incompetent computer sidekick's inability to take down the few grubs he sends out while you do this.
The Act 3 climax where you have to take the gas station covered with the guys with torque bows, though, that was rough, as was the battle with the Beserker in the glass-roofed conservatory in Act 4. Beserkers must get a lot easier on co-op, though, as your sidekick in single player insists on sticking 4 inches away from you instead of luring the thing away so you can take a HoD shot.

Lol, that was awesome. There were a few moments of frustration but 3 and one half acts on Insane in one evening isn't that bad, eh? Hopefully we'll be bale to finish the rest off on Monday.
Unfortunately though, I went back and was looking. I missed one C.O.G. tag. Its the only one we've missed and its right where we are so its shouldn't be to hard to get hopefully. Its where the boomers rushed you at that door just before we split paths. Where the gate was that we walked through there is a C.O.G. tag near there. I thought it was after tha split path.
Now that we've worked the rust off and the kinks out we should get a better rolling start Monday, hopefully lol.

That was a stupid amount of fun. Even when we got stuck. Funny how a little thing like crossing those split bridges can kick our ass 20 times in a row, then we took the pumping station without a death. No worries on the COG tag, if we can't backtrack we can always just start a game at that chapter, pick it up and quit. And hey, I didn't have rust, I've been playing the game all week. I just have incompetence. bloody wretches. Though I think we're done with the exploding ones at least.

Those damn exploding wretches are what make the experience so damn entertaining.

It was probably the only hard part in the game that we came accross that really stumped us. There were lots of sections that should have been really hard that we just breezed through. Even the second time the path splits and one side leads to a locked room with boomers was a cake walk. I accidently died once and then Dharmabum just obliterated them with grenades in about ten seconds on the second try. Even the section right after our troublsome split path where we had to clear that station by the elevator and everyone seems to have a Toqrque Bow, just before we set the resonator off. We made it through first try with neither of us even going down lol. It was awesome.

Almost nothing but... that "exactly" why I died ;D Man, I had nightmares about those stinking glowing wretches. Nice thing is I think the game just gets easier from here. Once we get past this final path split that we are on all there is is Marcus' mansion and then off to the train for Act 5. And act 5 is really short. The only hard part left will be the basement in the mansion where Jack rips the door. I think we have one or two more wretch clusters there while we defend Jack and then everything is easy as pie after that... hopefully.

In my recent memory, the part we got stuck on last night, with you upstairs, was brutal for me last week on Hardcore. The beserker fight in the conservatory or garden was tough, but should be no problem in co-op. Once I got past those, I had no problems until the part in Act 5 where you use the troiks to shoot down the flying black-oil buggers, and that should be much easier co-op.
I do remember wretches in the basement, but not exploding wretches, which makes all the difference. Who knows on Insane, though, it's a very aptly named difficulty level. Can you imagine if it had achievements like MGS4's badges, requiring a play-through on the hardest difficulty without dying once?
